Hello, I’m Charlie.

I started practising yoga in 2016 whilst navigating a severe episode of depression. Yoga helped turn things around and continues to assist me through turbulent moments to this day. I like to be open about my mental health issues, mainly because of the transformative effect that yoga has had on my own personal wellbeing. Experiencing this illness is what ultimately led me to become a yoga teacher. It also inspired me to offer classes to people who experience health issues of any kind.

I eventually decided to undertake a 200-hour yoga teacher training course with Yoga London in 2018 and have been teaching yoga intermittently since then. I also completed a 60-hour yin yoga course with Sampoorna Yoga in 2021. Both courses are accredited by Yoga Alliance. I teach and practice a variety of styles and maintain a consistent home practice.

I have been a secondary school drama teacher from 2020-2023 but decided to take a break last September to pursue an MA in Performance and Culture in London.

I have been volunteering as a yoga teacher alongside this, holding
classes in a hospice and in a centre for people affected by cancer.

My classes are open to all bodies and identities.

Get to know Charlie in five Questions:

1. What is your favourite yoga pose?

Vrischikasana (Scorpion Pose) >>>

2. How do you show kindness to others?

Acts of service. Always listening actively and generally being present when in the
company of others.

3. Are you an introvert, extrovert, or ambivert?

Introvert! I love spending time with people but equally enjoy jumping onto my
yoga mat at home for a few hours with a podcast playing in the background. I can
also be found binge-watching tv with (many) snacks or embarking on a solo
theatre trip!

4. What was the best vacation you ever took and why?

It’s a tie! In 2016 I worked with elephants for six weeks in a remote village in
Thailand. In 2018 I volunteered for a month in an animal sanctuary in Bolivia.
Both were equally memorable and were great learning experiences!

5. Do you live by any piece(s) of advice?

1. Be scared but do it anyway.
2. Fail gloriously!
3. Always acknowledge your emotions but sit with them before you act.
